New partner Legend Sportswear debuts Silktails apparel
The Kaiviti Silktails RLFC inclusion into the NSWRL 2020 Ron Massey Cup competition will provide rugby league players in Fiji an opportunity of a lifetime.
To make this opportunity happen, a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication has been undertaken, along with the backing and support of individuals, companies and organisations that share that same dream.
Kaiviti Silktails ambassador Petero Civoniceva recently spoke of the support of a number of companies that has helped the Fijian rugby league dream become a reality.
Kaiviti Silktails Major Sponsor – Legend Sportswear
A chance meeting between Civoniceva and Legend Sportswear owner Dr Looi Tan was the catalyst that saw the Australian-owned Sportswear Apparel company get behind Fiji’s newest sporting franchise. “Legend Sportswear have been absolutely amazing in their support of the Kaiviti Silktails RLFC,” Civoniceva said. “I was lucky to meet Dr Tan and we spoke at length of sport in the Pacific, especially rugby league. I told him about our project and he was instantly interested and quickly wanted to get behind our push into the NSWRL.”
The Adelaide-based sportswear company, owned by Dr Tan and Mandy Qi, has been a revelation in the international sportswear business, having started from humble beginnings in 2004. Legend Sportswear now export into the United States, United Kingdom, Asia, and the Pacific.
The company describes its garments as innovative, unique, light and durable, incorporating breathable technology and existing to bring out the best performance in athletes by their exclusive design and seamless production.
Civoniceva recently received the first Kaiviti Silktails on-field, off-field and supporter merchandise sample garments. “As a former NRL player I understand the need for high quality, durable high performance garments,’ he said. “Legend Sportswear have ticked all the boxes in that regard and I know our players, staff and supporters will love wearing our Legend Kaiviti Silktails team apparel.”
At the recent Australian Prime Minister’s XIII match against the Fiji Bati in Suva, Civoniceva was joined by the Legend Sportswear owners in giving the rugby league public the first glimpse of the Kaiviti Silktails playing jersey.
“To have Mandy and Looi with me in presenting both the Australian and Fijian Prime Ministers our number one home and away jerseys was a real thrill.” Civoniceva said. “We really appreciate the support of Legend Sportswear and as a football club value our role in promoting them to our Australia and Pacifica audience. I have been blown away by Legend’s passion and commitment to helping us bring this dream to fruition. So much so, they are not only as a major sponsor of our team, but also now a co-owner of our parent company, the Fiji NSW Rugby League.”
Civoniceva said he is looking forward to continuing to develop a strong and effective partnership with Legend Sportswear that will continue to assist in the growth and development of Fiji’s future rugby league stars.
